Match This Week's Hours to Unmarked Work

Tonight is this week's count, not a stop-or-start essay. List hours against unmarked essays. Then keep, cut, or hold.

Unmarked essays cap the hours

An hour that adds another unmarked essay is load, not help. The cap is the pile the teacher has not returned.

Do not invent a ministry hour cap. Count school GP and outside hours together.

Two GP periods at school plus two outside hours is four hours. The unmarked pile still caps the outside hours.

Count this week's hours against the pile

List JC English or GP hours this week. List essays still unmarked. Cut one hour if unmarked essays are two or more.

1. List JC English or GP hours this week, school and outside.
2. List essays still unmarked.
3. If two or more sit unmarked, cut one hour.
4. Write the two numbers on the timetable.

If the list says four hours and three unmarked essays, cut one hour before you buy a fifth.

Keep, cut, or hold

Keep if every hour this week produced a returned comment. Cut one hour if two essays sit unmarked. Hold the new hour until the pile moves.

No grade promise. A new hour on top of an unmarked pile is more paper, not more help.

If last week's GP essay is still unmarked and this week's essay is already due, hold the extra hour until the first one comes back.
