Map Three GP Paper 2 Voices Before You Answer

General Paper Paper 2 is now widely described as three texts in one conversation. This page gives a three-row voice map before any short-answer question. It is not a tuition-centre shortlist, and iWorld Learning does not offer a named GP course.

Three passages are a conversation, not a longer Paper 2

Current GP Paper 2 commentary describes three texts that often hold two viewpoints plus a third angle. Treat them as speakers in one debate. Confirm the live syllabus code and paper rules on SEAB. Secondary explainers of the newer syllabus say the three-text pattern is regular and that comparison items need cross-passage reading. Those explainers are not the official paper. Open the current SEAB A-Level syllabus list before you quote a code, a mark, or a section name.

Old notes written for a one-or-two-passage year can still train paraphrase. They cannot train a comparison item that asks how C sits against A and B.

A three-row voice map

For each passage write: stance in one clause, one supporting move, and whether it agrees, clashes, or shifts the other two. Fill the map before any short-answer question. Do not summarise every paragraph.

The third column is the comparison muscle. Agrees, clashes, or shifts is enough. If you write a paragraph in that cell, you have started the answer too early.

Tonight: map first, comparison second

Read all three, complete the map, then attempt only the comparison or cross-reference question. Leave summary and application for another sitting. This sitting does not finish a full Paper 2.

1. Read A, B, and C once each. No highlighting of whole paragraphs.
2. Fill the three-row map. If a row is empty, reread that passage only.
3. Attempt only the comparison or cross-reference item. Use the third column as the skeleton. Quote lightly.
4. Stop. Do not open summary or the application question tonight.

What the map will not do

No. The map serves comparison and cross-text reading. Summary and the application question are separate tasks with their own official requirements. Skipping them because the map felt complete is a different failure. Confirm those requirements on the current SEAB documents.

Old one-or-two-passage notes are incomplete for comparison items; there is no iWorld GP course to sell. The current six-page course index does not list General Paper. Treat this page as method only.

Can I still use 8807 two-passage notes?

Use them for paraphrase drills only. Comparison items need a three-voice map.

Should I write the application question in the same sitting?

Not tonight. The map sitting stops after the comparison item.
