WPLN Level in Singapore: The Eight Bands

A WPLN level is a proficiency band from 1 to 8 on Singapore's Workplace Literacy and Numeracy scale, reported separately for each skill you sit. SkillsFuture Singapore describes eight language proficiency levels in the WPL series. British Council prints a 0–50 scale score plus a level for listening, reading, speaking, writing, or numeracy. There is no single "overall English level" on the report.

How the Eight Levels Are Used in Practice

2. Read that line's level and 0–50 score. Ignore a higher listening score if writing is the bar.
3. Core grammar and vocabulary has a score but no WPLN level.
4. Numeracy is a separate ladder. It does not raise a literacy level.
5. Resit only the weak component after the roughly 90-day lockout, unless a recognised WPL programme applies. Confirm live British Council rules.
