Name the English Pathway Before You Compare Classes

Integrated Programme English and O-Level English are different destinations. This page names the pathway before anyone compares a class. It is not a list of IP tutors, and iWorld Learning has no named IP English course in the current six-page index.

The pathways aim at different end papers

O-Level English is a national paper with a published SEAB syllabus. IP English is school-designed toward a later end point, often A-Level or another diploma, and usually does not sit the O-Level English paper. A few IP students may still sit selected O-Levels. Confirm with the school.

MOE describes the Integrated Programme as a pathway that generally bypasses O-Levels and continues to a later qualification. SEAB publishes the O-Level syllabuses examined for school candidates. Those two documents, plus the school's current English outline, are the sources. Blog summaries are not.

What changes for the English student

O-Level English is bounded by 1184-style papers. IP English usually asks for longer argument, wider reading and school-based tasks whose format is not the O-Level booklet. Confirm both with current documents. Do not treat one school's IP booklet as national.

What does not transfer

An O-Level timed paper can train editing or summary only if the IP school still uses those tasks. It cannot stand in for an IP literary or research task the school actually sets. Do not buy papers until you have seen the school's current English outline.
