A Journal Works Only If the Word Leaves the Book

Tonight moves one word out of the journal. Write tomorrow's real sentence with it. Then close the book.

A journal that never leaves the book is a list

A list proves you copied. The word works when a reader or listener meets it in a real sentence.

The O-Level passage-word page already makes five exam cards. Tonight is not that paper. This is tomorrow's email or spoken line at work or at a counter.

Do not invent an official journal size. One word is the cap.

Write tomorrow's sentence with one new word

Open the journal. Pick one word. Write tomorrow's real email line or spoken line with that word. Close the book.

  1. Open the journal to one unused word. Example: postpone.
  2. Write tomorrow's real line: Can we postpone the Friday call to Monday morning?
  3. Send or say that line tomorrow. Tick used.
  4. Do not add five new words tonight.

A dictionary example is not tomorrow's sentence. If you only copy the sample, the word never left the book.

Keep the word or drop the new list

Keep if the sentence was sent or said. Drop new lists for a week if two entries never left the book.

A highlighted notebook is not the pass test. Yellow ink still sits in the bag.
