Keep Tonight's Book Open Without Finishing It

Tonight is a sit, not a tuition decision. The book stays open for ten minutes. You do not complete the page.

Finishing the page hides the leak

If you finish the page, the child learns that avoidance works. The unread sentence stays unread.

Avoidance is a signal, not a character label. The need-help signs page already treats English last as data. Tonight does not ask whether to buy a term.

A parent who supplies the missing paragraph teaches the child to wait. Tomorrow's page will wait too.

Sit ten minutes with the book open

Set a timer. The child reads aloud or points. You sit. You do not supply the missing paragraph.

  1. Open only tonight's school book. Do not start a new reader.
  2. Set a ten-minute timer. Sit beside the child, not across the room.
  3. The child reads or points at each line. You may model one sentence, then stop.
  4. When the timer ends, close the book even if lines remain.

This is not a dictionary tantrum night. That distress page calms a lookup fight. Tonight the page is simply unread.

Trim the page or stop the sit

Trim to one paragraph if the child freezes. Stop the sit if tears start. Two failed sits are a later Primary English look, not another fight.

A smile is not the pass test. A read sentence is. If the child points through one paragraph without you filling gaps, keep the sit tomorrow.

This is not the need-tuition page

No. Signs pages ask whether a term gap exists. Tonight only asks whether the book stayed open for ten minutes.

FAQ

A parent reading the whole page is not a sit.

May I read the whole page aloud if the child refuses?

Read one sentence as a model, then stop. Finishing the page is not a sit.

Do two failed sits mean we must start tuition?

No. Two failed sits mean look at a live Primary English hour later. They do not prove a term gap.
