One Script Is Enough to Name the Repeat Fault

Check one already-marked composition for the repeat fault that lost marks. Circle that fault if it appears twice. Rewrite only the two weakest sentences that show it. Leave the plot alone.

A mistakes list is not tonight's script

A list names other children's errors. Your script already shows the fault that lost marks this time.

Common-mistake pages are useful later, when you want a catalogue. Tonight you already have a marked story. The marker has already spent time on this child's sentences. Do not invent an Achievement Level from one story. One composition is a fault map, not a forecast.

Read the marker's repeats, not the plot

Open one marked story. Circle the same fault if it appears twice: tense drift, empty ending, or dialogue that never stops.

1. Put one marked composition on the table. Close unmarked drafts.
2. Read the marker's ticks, circles and end comment before you reread the plot.
3. Circle one fault that appears twice. One isolated slip is not the repeat.
4. Write that fault in one short line. Stop hunting for a second story.

SEAB's July 2026 media reply states that PSLE English Paper 1 lasts 1 hour 10 minutes for Situational Writing and Continuous Writing, and that Continuous Writing is at least 150 words. Recheck that live note. Word count is not tonight's fault unless the marker named it. If the marker named tense, endings or dialogue, those are the repeats to circle.

Rewrite only the circled fault

Rewrite the two weakest sentences that show that fault. Leave the rest of the plot alone.

Example. The marker circled two places where the story jumped from “Yesterday I walked” to “I am running to the shop” with no time signal. Rewrite those two verbs so they stay with yesterday, or add one clear time move. Do not start a new story tonight. Do not polish every adjective.

If the repeat is an empty ending, rewrite the last two sentences so something actually happens or is decided. If the repeat is dialogue that never stops, close two speech sentences with a stop and a tag. The plot can stay.
