Three Primary 2 English Games That Still Make a Sentence
Melissa Tan 6 2026-09-05 16:33:19 编辑
Tonight is one Primary 2 English game that still produces one new sentence. Pick one of the three. Stop when the sentence exists. A game that ends in laughter only does not show the school product. Do not run all three games tonight.
A game that never makes a sentence is play only
P2 school literacy asks the child to speak and then write short sequenced sentences. A game that ends in laughter only does not show that transfer.

That is fine on a Saturday. It is not tonight's homework. Do not shop for a board-game list.
Pick one of the three games
I-spy-then-say: name it in a full sentence. Picture-swap: change one thing in a known picture and say the new sentence. Add-a-line: parent says a line, child adds one new sentence. Stop after one product.
- I-spy-then-say: the child names the thing in a full sentence, not a single word. "I spy a red bus at the stop."
- Picture-swap: change one thing in a known picture and say the new sentence. "Now the cat is on the chair."
- Add-a-line: you say one line, the child adds one new sentence that was not in the book.
Play only one. A second game only if the first already produced a sentence. Keep the sitting short enough that the child still wants the sentence, not a fight.
The pass is one new sentence
Pass if the child produces one sentence that was not copied from the book line. Invented spelling is allowed if the sounds are there. Do not mark every letter.
Fail: the child only points, or only says "bus".
Pass: "The bus is at the gate." Written or spoken both count. If the first try is a word, model one sentence and ask for one change of place or who. That changed sentence is the product.
This is not tonight's read-aloud loop
No. That page is read a known page, borrow one word, write one sentence. Tonight is a game with a sentence exit. Do the loop on another night.

FAQ
If the child only points, the parent models one sentence and the child repeats with one change.
What if the child only points and will not speak?
Model one sentence. The child repeats it with one change of place or who. That is tonight's product. Do not turn the sitting into a vocabulary quiz.
May we play all three games?
No. One game. A second game only if the first already produced a sentence. Three games hide whether any sentence transferred.
