A Reading Habit Is Tomorrow's Same Book

Tonight is one chosen leisure page. Open the same book. Close it after one page. Do not start a series.

A new series hides tonight's page

A new series feels like a habit. The last book never reopens, so the habit never forms.

The ten-minute sit page already owns unread homework. Tonight the school reader stays closed. This is a book the child chose.

Do not invent an official minutes quota. One page is the cap. A finished series box is not the test.

Open the same book to one page

Open the book already on the table. Read one page aloud or together. Close it. Do not start a new series.

  1. Pick the book that is already open or on the sofa. Buy nothing tonight.
  2. Read one page. The child may point. You may share a line, then stop.
  3. Close the book on the same table. Leave a bookmark on the next page.
  4. If a new boxed set appears, put it away for a fortnight.

A usable page is the next two sides of the same chapter book. A first page of a new series is a miss.

Keep the book or drop the series

Keep if the same book reopens tomorrow. Drop new series for a fortnight if two nights start a different book.

A completed series box is not the pass test. Tomorrow's same cover is.
