A One-Word Answer Is Not a Comprehension Answer

Tonight rewrites one short answer as a full sentence. Do not lift a whole line. Do not rewrite the paper.

A one-word answer hides the reason

A one-word answer can name a fact and still omit the reason the question asked. Many school papers want a complete sentence. Confirm tonight's paper.

Do not invent a SEAB full-sentence law. Confirm live papers on the current SEAB PSLE formats page. The instruction lives on tonight's school sheet.

The lift page already treats copied lines. Tonight only completes one sentence.

Rewrite one short answer

Find one marked short answer. Rewrite it as one sentence that uses a word from the question. Do not lift a whole line.

  1. Circle one marked short answer, such as sad or because rain.
  2. Copy one word from the question, such as why or felt.
  3. Write one sentence: The boy felt sad because the rain cancelled the match.
  4. Stop. Leave the rest of the paper for another night.

A usable rewrite answers why. A copied sentence from paragraph three is a lift, not a rewrite.

Keep the sentence or drop the one-word habit

Keep if the sentence answers the question. Drop one-word answers for a week if two papers still return the same short-answer comment.

A longer lift is not the pass test. A complete sentence in your own words is.

FAQ

A copied sentence is not a rewrite.

Can I copy a full sentence from the passage?

No. That is a lift. Rewrite in your own full sentence.

Is this the same as lift versus a half-answer?

No. That page treats copied lines. Tonight completes one sentence.
